Membership...

Who qualifies for membership?

Authors, living in or writing about the West Country, whose work has been published in book form or who have written for newspapers, magazines, radio, TV or films. Associate Membership is open to those who are serious about writing and are working towards publication, as long as they have a West Country connection.

Associate Membership is also open to those whose work complements writing – e.g. publishers, agents, booksellers, librarians, illustrators – with a West Country connection. Poets, novelists, dramatists, technical authors: writers in all sorts of genres are accepted, and you don’t need to be a household name!  Some of our past members have been very famous – such as Christopher Fry, Daphne du Maurier, Laurie Lee, Henry Williamson, Charles Causley and A L Rowse; others have made less well-known but valuable contributions to writing on education, medicine, sports, reference, cookery, economics . . . just about any subject.

What does it cost?

It costs £20 to join.  The annual subscription is £10 p.a. until September 2011, thereafter £25 p.a until December 2012. We prefer payment by Standing Order. Life Membership is £150 plus £20.
